Hello, I'm looking for a decent hardware synthesizer to make sounds relating to the darker side of things (think Technical Itch or Dom & Roland).
Any suggestions? Your help is much appreciated!

aye I know about Roland - but I don't know which of their synths to look at getting. I definitely don't want a synth that has few parameters that you can change (frequency, resonance, etc.), I want a synth that you can make your own unique sounds on. I saw a few Roland synths the other day, and one only had an amp envelope. That sounds sh*t to me!
[Think of parameters in terms of the Reason Subtractor.]

Yeah, I know what you mean. I replied with Roland as I know Dom used it (hence the name) and he stated in Computer Music magazine that he's still using it for some basslines etc. I really don't know shit about analog/hardware synths, I do everything digitally (and then make it sound like analog Big Grin )

The virus-synths are very good for sick bassline shit, but why bother going for real gear? If you use some good VST's you can do whatever you want and it CAN be a whole lot cheaper Wink .

Virus synths always have a 4 digit price tag. I'd invest that kind of money in a hi-end pc with lots of storage and silent cooling and good monitors.

For the price of a hardware synth you could buy Native Instruments Komplete6 and get Absynth,massive,FM8 and reaktor. All the synths you'll ever need,

Plus you'll get kontakt and a shed load of samples/sounds.

And on their site there are literally 1000's of Reaktor patches shared for free so it can be an endless supply of cool sounds for you.

I got a Yamaha DX-21 Big Grin
I'm going to save up for an Oberheim OB-12...

There's a special kinda feeling that differentiates hardware synthesizers to software versions... it feels more... involved... and it's nice to have some 'real' kit Smile

Anyone bought any drum machines before? My bro used to have a TR-626...
