How about a stand alone real time spectrum analyzer rather than a VsT plugin !?
Know any good ones ?

I'm using Reason 4.0

voxengo span, free and does the job......different meter modes are handy too for when your mastering.
if you hold ctrl aswell and drag over a certain frequency range you can solo that particular range, found if out by accident but its a phat little trick and pretty useful too to identify problem frequencies. Tongue

It's a VsT plugin is it not ?
How am I supposed to use it in Reason without ReWiring through another program !!?

You cant use any external software in reason, vst or standalone.

You would need to rewire reason to a rewire host application or export the audio from reason as a wav in order to do what you want

You can't!!!

I had a spectral analizer combi that someone made. But I think I may of accidently deleted it. Look on the net for one. Try 'Combinator Hq' to start with...

Ahhh but by stand alone I meant a windows application like for instance:
Spectrum analyzer pro live 2007 - [Which I don't have enough money to buy and can't seem to find a patch to unlock it anywhere]

It works straight from your internal audio !
I was testing the demo out earlier.
Play a sound et voila instant real time frequency analysis.

Here you are, made this in Reason 3

Just plug what ever you want to analyze though it. Use the eq on the first Vocoder to drop/add frequencies. The second vocoder will show what the result is. Works pretty well. Happy

Works better than the normal eq, because you can totally wipe out whole frequencies, so it's good for getting rid of hissing ect

use the decay on the second Voc. to speed up/down the image.

Did you make it honestly !? - Oh tanks ma ! HeHe.

Looks quite similar to the one I just found on combinatorHQ - Spectroscopator
http://www.combinatorhq.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=414

This one also uses 2 BV512 Vocoders.
1 spidey merger 'n splitter.
2 2-band parametric eQ's

You should take a look at it.

Thanx mate !

Bugger and hehe. whatevers.
Should have downsized the quality on that Jpeg.
'ack bloody hell.

But thanx for the patch.
I've used youtube a few times as well to get ideas.
Like The PandaDnB method for side-chaining.
Which I then decided to fuck up using the cv connections.
HaHa.

I had nae idea what I was doing just that it made a pretty cool sounding bass thingy.
You got the link to your timestretch combi esé ?

here is the timestretch combi.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/jark5d

Like the artwork? It was a pic of myself that I destroyed with photoshop!

You can just about read what the dials do if you look close enough.

Try adjusting the dials on the delay as well as the combi.

You can automate the combi dials aswell, so you can change the glitch/pitch, play stuff backward, all sorts of mad stuff. Enjoy! Drummer

Voxengo span ! And there was another that I forgot the name of. I don't use spectrum analyzers lately, doing all by hearing (got better results that way) except when I really need to exterminate some bugger off the sound.

Me neither, I do everything by ear. I've tried using spectrum analysers but I just don't find them very helpful. Imo, it's much better if you can judge everything by your own ears rather than relying on an analyser.

u guys just gave me some confidence! felt like as i have never used em i always felt like i SHOULD - that being said i just got a couple analyzers for the first time so im going to test them out and see if they help, if they do then i'll defo use em tho Big Grin

there was a tune i put up on here a while ago that got some decent reviews i then sent it to Jimmy for mastering and he actually picked up on sumthin no one else picked up in the initial review that there was a "hole" in the mid/ high frequencies (which means i have to go back to it and sort it out! aaargh) so i guess it is a useful tool - all the pros use it dont they?! i know Chase and Status definately recomended them from that digital blonde vid!

but if u guys can do it without them then respect! my ears unfortuantely aren't so well trained! Frown
