The hercules dj control, by many reviews on the internet, sucks balls. The 'plates' are either non-sensitive or too much sensitive, and the other controls are in the middle of the spectrum.

Dunno about the other, though, berhinger makes really good audio gear, but has exceptions here or there.

ok, that is what i was thinking...

I really llike the final scratch idea, but since I don't have any turntables, it is a bit stupid for me to buy em as well just to mix some MP3.... na?? Huh

If you can buy VirtualDJ software, it has the ability to emulate scratching and skipping by using a web-camera and your hand. You move your hand over the web-camera's field and it produces effect on the plates... but had no experience with this, so can't tell you if this works or not.
You can also buy a special vinyl from VirtualDJ's creators, and play it on some normal, non-expensive turntable, put the web-cam and use the whole set as a scratching machine.

good, thanks but no thanks....!! Big Grin ( that thing about the web cam is funny tho....)

I heard really bad stuff about VDJ.... but heard that traktor is really good....

About the tables, the cheapest direct drive are like 200 each, and there no point for me to go for MP3 in that case... I would rather stick with vinyl....

Thanks m8!

I mix with VirtualDJ (though I don't use the livescratch or anything else), and it is a good program.
I wanna try traktor, have little experience with it, the GUI is so fuckin messy I can't handle it all... Big Grin

No problem m8 Smile

I like the behringer too, and it also gives you some extra inputs for cdplayers, tt's or whatever.

here are some more options:

There's a dutch review here: http://www.aboutdj.nl/content/view/537/8/1/0/

some more controllers:

http://eks.fi/index.php?page=xp10

and this one really has the looks:
http://www.vestax.com/v/products/players/vci100.html

which can't be said about these:
http://faderfox.de/

I'll try to summarize the conclusions of the review:

- support could be much better. The site of the manufacturer is down from time to time, the drivers delivered on the cd are more recent than the ones on the site, etc.
- the faders and buttons are good quality, better than on controllers like the behringer bcd2000 or the hercules mp3dj
- the jog wheels are ok but not great, the ones on the eks xp10 are better. They are not fit for scratching.
- Works best with traktor dj and an asio2 capable soundcard, allthough onboard soundcard with asio4all drivers and other software is also possible.
- You get only the controller and the drivers, nothing more, no built-in soundcard etc.
- Some computer and midi knowledge might come in handy when setting this thing up.
- The controller is costly compared to the hercules&behringer, but also better quality.
- No mixing software and soundcard included. Which means you don't have to pay for it and can choose one of your own, but you might have to spend some more money on those.

Some other things that caught my eye in the review:
- The reviewer had to format his pc to get it working after reïnstalling. His best guess is that another usb driver conflicted with the kontrol dj.
- It is important to first start the kontrol software, and after that your dj software such as traktor or djdecks. The controller doesn't work if you do it the other way around.
- When turning the controller upside down one of the jogwheels fell off, but with a firm push it stayed in it's place.

edit: Was just checkin' the namm news: behringer have introduced a successor to the bcd2000. So it might be worth waiting a while for the BCD3000 to hit the stores http://www.behringer.com/BCD3000/index.cfm?lang=ENG

djfreemc, you are a star man...

Thanks a lot.... I don't like so much the berhinger one, the jog wheels are too small imo...

I found a new one by the way: check it out: http://www.xp10.fr/

It really look amazing, and it looks like it has it own audio out, but you need a mixer...

I'll have to choose between the vestx, Kontroll and the xp10....

I have one month to do so, I'll keep posting ....

For the xp10, the site is french but i can translate if someone need it..

Thanks again!!!! Happy

The xp10, kontrol DJ and vci100 all look like a step up from the behringer and hercules.

The vci100 has just been introduced @ the namm show, so it might take a while untill it hits the shops here in europe. And I haven't found any independent reviews on it yet.

The kontrol dj seems nice but not really amazing, so I kind off have my doubts on it.

The xp10 is a good controller if you can believe the reviews, but it has only one jog wheel and one fader. A controller with dual jog wheel and faders might be easier to work with.

I guess the best thing to do is try to find a store wich has these in stock, and get your hands on them, so you can give them your own opinion.
