the hardware of the ipod is actually good, it is the software that bothers most people complaining about it. So I suggest you try rockbox, so you can get rid of itunes, and get more possibilities.

As for creative players, my GF has a zen stone and is not really satisfied with it, batteries run out all of the time, even when the thing is turned off! Since she uses it only occasionally, the battery is always gone, which makes it as good as useless.
I have heard good stuff about the Iriver and Archos players.

I've been told in a musicstore they where the best I could get in that pricerange (they are cheaper than say krk/mackie/yamaha) , but I haven't listened to them at the time, so I can't tell you from my own experience if they are any good.

I'm going to give you a bit of different advice from the other members here: If you are going to use it for dj'ing, don't buy a HIFI amp, but a decent PA amp. Why? Chances are quiet big that at a gigg you will have the amp turned all the way up and pumping for hours. A Hifi amp simply isn't built for that. You wouldn't be the first one and you won't be the last to blow up an amp, even if it is matched to you speakers. Most hifi amps can't handle the heat they produce when playing at maximum volume for hours, so components will break down. The hifi amps that can handle this, are the high-end ones, and will cost you more than a PA amp.
Another hint: if you don't know which cables or connectors to get, just look up the stuff on the manufacturer website, they usually contain more detailed info than the sites from the stores.
Your speakers are 200W / 8 ohms, the amp you proposed is only 45W @ 8 ohms, so you will have to look into something more heavy.
Technically a 2*200W @ 8 ohms amp would be the perfect match for your speakers. If you want to protect from blowing your speakers, it might be better to go a little bit lower, more like 175-180W.
Also an important note: Always make sure your amp and speaker have the same impedance. (most amps can switch between 8 Ohms and 4Ohms nowadays) Unmatched impedance will lead to less efficient power transfer from your amp to your speakers, and might result in overheating and damaging either of those.

have you ever tried using a mic on the mic input yet? I think in vista the mic is standard muted, but I could be wrong.
As mic inputs are usually mono and mixer output is stereo, pretty much the only way to convert them properly, is buying an external audio card with line input.
Unlike in xp, you cannot acces the sound settings from right-clicking the speaker icon in the taskbar, but you need to go to control panel/sound to be able to set things right.

I have never experienced login problems on this site using opera, but I must say I always use the "remember me" (or something like that) option. Only problems I had on this site are some occasional rendering problems, but Chronic has always been able to fix those.
Have you tried clearing your profile in opera? If you upgrade between versions, sometimes some rubbish of older versions is kept in your profile, and prevents some newer functions/bugfixes from working properly.

Hard to tell. Since a needle is usually cheaper than a stylus, you might try that one first.
What type of needle/Stylus is it?
If it is not a very good one, you might try to upgrade to a better one at once?

Different brand, same oem manufacturer? And as far as the pictures are reliable, the amercan audio has a vfd display, while the citronic has an lcd. VFD is usually brighter/ easier to read in the dark.
Also the sizes ar somewhat different.
the american audio has switchable 100/220V input, while the citronics doesn't. Might be something to keep in mind if you want to travel abroad wit them.
Just read the specs on the links you gave. From what I see the american audio has a bit more possibilities (allthough probably ones you will never use such as fader start), and comes at a lower price, so choice between those two i think is easy.

Definately check out ableton live. If you don't get the hang of it right away, there are some great tutorials in the help files, and it just offers a lot of flexibility. You can actually try out buildups and song structures on the fly, which no other DAW can do (as far as I know).
The drum racks in live 7 are great. I used to work in pretty much the same way for my drums in FL, but it always took me 20 minutes to link all the channels and stuff, now all it takes is just one click!

In that case I would advice the M-audio Fasttrack pro!
It has 2 inputs you can use for either microphones or guitar/instrument, and it has balanced outputs, where the audiophile or fast track have unbalanced outputs. It is a bit more expensive though, but I think you will find it is worth the extra money.

headphone output impedance: usually around 200 Ohm
Studio monitor input impedance: probably 8 Ohm
guitar cable: mono, unbalanced
headphone output: stereo, unbalanced
monitor input: 1xmono for each speaker, preferably balanced
Also you did not mention wether you where using active or passive monitors, that is if you do know there is a difference.
Bottomline: always make sure you know what you are doing before you connect stuff to each other, you wouldn't be the first to smoke up an amplifier or output circuit.
How do you solve it?
- Check if your monitors are active or passive
- If they are passive, you will need an amplifier capable of handling those speakers.
- A headphone output is exactly what it says: For headphones!!! Connecting normal speakers (after all we're not talking the mp3 speaker kind of crap here) to this is a no go, you may blow up the output circuit, wich will result in a repair costing about the same as a new laptop.
- As TheSentinel said: get a decent external soundcard with balanced outputs.
- Cables and connectors may look the same or similar, but there can be a lot of difference, always make sure you use the right cable for each connection.

click generate in the menu, choose noise, then select type of noise you want (white in your case) and the length of the sample you need, and click OK

Wouldn't it be possible to set up some sort of half server/half p2p sort of streaming thing instead of streaming it all from the server?
It would definately make an difference in required bandwith.
But I don't know if it is technically possible or usefull with the amount of downloads/streams this site has at the moment.

Connecting to mic input might not be a very good idea, as a lot of mic inputs are mono, and they certainly have different impedance, which may cause even more distortion.
Do you have the same kind of distortion when listening to the record on a headphone connected to your mixer?
