Guys I need a laptop sent out to me from all the way back home, and I want to find a cheap company to do it. I only ask here cos Im guessing that some of you have used ebay and i assume that means youve had to send or recieve weighty stuff in the post.
Any advice, just where to look or whatever, would be really appreciated. Atm i cant produce. or download movies and all that. Which is actually kinda refreshing, but the novelty is wearing thin, so help a brother out.

hard to say really, cos bad drum and bass tracks are usually bad cos there just cos they´re completely unmemorable.
As far as what I consider gloriously bad goes, well I thought SwampThing by Subfocus was unmitigated shite . . . yeah, defiantelycould be worst for me, though I feel bad saying it cos I really like most of his stuff.

Thread: Our Enviroment, Your immediate future... |

lary environmentalists . . . always crack me up.
I think Suorora said something like "none of us know enough about this" . . . and that about sums it up for me. I didnt do the research and Im probably not clever enough to have a respectable opinion on this - I not going to speak for the rest of yous, but even people who have watched the entirity of one movie about this and even mayve looked it up a bit on the web shouldnt act like captain planet. ALSO I dont have a car or have any say on the way things are run, so my opinion make no difference. Bear this in mind and dont get angry.
Right the way I see it is, as I said, we dont have the knowledge to know shit, I mean us average Joes. Scientists could probably blag me into believeing a lot of things, particularly with the help of emotive videos. I have read articles ranging from GLobal Warming is a terrible reality which is gonna destroy us all to it doesnt even slightly exist and they have all seemed convincing at the time, they all have graphs and technical jargon.
What makes me slightly supicious of this is the way it has become semi religious to a lot of people who really no very little more than i do - even more so the fact that denying global warming nowadays is popularly seen as being about as stupid and bad as denying the holocaust. This all smacks of rabble rousing bandwagon jumping bullshit. There ARE scientists out there ("leading scientists" if it makes it more convincing cos the term is pretty vague) who are very doubtful, but you never hear shit about what they say, largely because it has become so political. Here in the UK its a big factor now among the parties.
NASA now, for example, justify their funding for environmental reasons more than like disocovering a new plantet or whatever. Its the majority of their budget spinner - are they likely to turn round and say "nothing happening", and risk losing their budget? SOUnds conspiratorial I Know, but that doesnt preclude it from being true. In the UK the scientific advisers to the governemtn made their names predicting this kind of thing, and they advance it with UNSCIENTTIFIC certainty and lack of caution.
As to the science, I know f all for myself but seeing as we can predict the weather reliably tommorow, why do we assume we can in 20 years time? Also if we are still sliding out of an Ice Age, why couldnt this be part of a long term trend? ALL of the world used to be covered in Ice a while (geologically speaking) ago, so is it suprising that ice is still melting? Um what else, yeah theres other statistcis out there that say that summers were just as hot earlier in the century like much earlier, statistics can be eaisly manipulated either way, so like i said i dont know.
MY hunch is tho in forty years time, we:l all be fine, but these people banging on now of course will probably have found somethiung else by then. All the same could be true, and obviously I think it would make for a NICER world if we made it a bit less smoke consumed and industrial, and more in harmony with nature or woteva . . . ajyway as i said i cant do fuck all about it anyway, other than recycle, so dont bite my head off just for not being one hundred percent convinced. Actually the way some people chat like its somehting you just CANT disagree on sounds well facist to me lol

Thread: Advice needed |

Bit of a long one this.
I´m out in Granada earning peanuts teaching english for a year. I now know some guy who owns one of the clubs around here, its quite quality up in the mountains over looking the alhambra if anyone knows what that is.
Anyway, despite the small problem that I only have a laptop, and dont know whow to dj using vinyl, and have NO experience other than playing around with tracktor a lot and the odd little gathereing, I htought considering they have no dnb around here hence no competition and no stnadards, i´d put myself forward to play out a little bit. Its looking like it might actually happen tho, and I´m shitting it. It will only be early in the night, and like one hour or something on a dead day, but all the same.
So i have some questions. One: Will mp3s sound abdolutely shite over a big(ger) system? I mean we´re no ttalking ab ig place here, more like a bar than a club, but still, is it an option?
Two: If it is a problem is there anyway of changing the format back to wav aand aiff and recuperating the quality?
Three: If i just plug the laptop into their system, am I likely to have to fuck around with whatever hardware (which I will no nothing about) they have to get the sound right? cos that could be a big problem.
Four: lol, im blagging it so much . . . but I want to know how often in a set you think its ok to let the chill bit in the middle happen? If you do it too much it gets annoying i think for people on the dance floor . . .so any advice on that and jsut any basica shit you can offer me wil be greatly appreciated.
let me know . . .
oh and wwhile im at it @Chronic if he ahppens to read this, why have I gone from the exalted heights of four vinyls on my avatar to a humble three stars?

well i shot a pigeon with an airrifle opnce and it was great until i found the pigeon, but it didnt really inspiure me musically . . . hunting deers sounds kcik ass tho. imo.
as far as inspiration goes films films and ahem books and then definatley trying to remix random styles that you kind of like with drum and bass . . . like 50s doo wop balladrs par exemple, set yourself a challenge gets the ol´creative juices a flowing.
