Maybe a limit of 2 one-munite songs/producer would be a better idea. I don't feel like listening to 2.4 billion minutes(/producer!).. Big Grin

well as I am a starter too, I use cerbera saw for my bass, and than distord it (blood overdrive) use eq2 on it to cut away the sucky noise, boost the bass.
use chorus on it, reverb, reverb2 and you've got a bass lolTongue
use the x/y thingy on the sytrus to make that growl, but after a while move on too other basses, Im getting reason4 soon, the thor synth in there is AWSOMEBig Grin so be prepared for some neurofunk bass from me in the future Devil

I use reason 4 and I say that you will be able to get the neurofunk bass sound out. Thor is great but the real star of this type of bassline is the nn-xt sampler because of the resampling.

ohw have to get reason soon and check it outBig Grin

There are more synths who have the ability to use a comb filter.. Massive for example. Or bounce any synth and load it up in Kontakt.
Or just use a filter plugin.. As you see, no way to find out what synth he is using.. Wink

No need for multiband compression.

But, eventually they go back to one buss, no? And then multiband compression can glue it together..

Ill get to that later, theory is a process of learning the rules so you can break them later. Less confusing that way.

Yeah, you're right. Great topic btw! You explain it really well.. Happy

FabFilter Pro-C as main compressor because it really sounds brilliant. 2C Audio Aether, Waves TrueVerb or Waves IR-1 (to use some King Tubby impulse reflections) as reverb effects. And some built-in Cubase effects (like the gate, envelope shaper, da tube, ...) and free effects. Izotope Ozone and PSP Vintage Warmer to master tracks.

Think I mentioned most of the stuff I use, but most likely I forgot some..

I also use FL Studio now and then to quickly lay out an idea. And Reason when I feel like playing with patch cables! Big Grin

You also might want to take a look at the circle of fifths:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circle_of_fifths

It helps to remember which notes are flattened or sharpened in a particular scale.
