Kontakt 5 sound issue 31-03-2012 17:53 Forum: Software

So Im using Kontakt 5, with loads of libraries. I'm using like 10 instances now, and it appears when most of em are playing at once, output mutes every once in awhile.

I got a Core i7 processor, and 6 gigs of RAM, so is it a PC issue, or a Kontakt bug? Or anything completely different?

Cheers!

RE: I need to find a good FREQ analyser for Mac 31-03-2012 17:51 Forum: Production questions & answers

First thing first - You're using a Mac, and on top of that, a PowerPC based Mac (as it would appear). That's usually NOT the ideal setup if you wish to use VST's alot, cause most VST's are programmed for Intel-based systems. Most new Mac's run on Intel, so theres little support for PowerPC-based Mac's regarding software nowadays. (AFAIK!!!!!)

Anyways, not sure if this will entirely fit your needs, nor do I know if it's for PowerPC Mac's, but I use Voxengo Soniformer, and since you're just using it for spectrum analyzation, the demo is good enough for you, as it mutes output as it's nag point. Just mute the output and you're good. Smile

Not really DnB, it's 100bpm, but I kinda like it.

Drums are a bit boring, yes, and the mixdown sucks, yes, I am aware of that. Not going to edit it anyway. Tongue

Cheers!

Nice one man! Nice drums! IMO could be a LITTLE bit faster, think the drums would sound even sicker then.

Awesome bass, lovely movement in there!

Try sidechaining the kick with the bass, so when the kick "kicks" in (no pun intended), the subbass will yield a bit to give the kick some space. Smile

Twisters like these require resampling. If you do these live you'll need a second mixer to load all the plugins Big Grin

If you are worried about computer power.. don't. Wink

Drums are good, hard and a lot of punch.
Like the weird high sounds adds a cool atmosphere to the track. Respect

I use FL10. Smile

I use 2 monitors though - one for the main FL window, and one for the playlist. Looks oh so nice, and is easy to work with!

When I started out I had a hard time believing it was the idiot behind the DAW that mattered, not the DAW itself. Well, no more. Smile

Daaamn! Sure you didn't leak this WIP from Danny Byrd? Wink

Amazing track mate! Agree, the intro is a wee bit repetitive, maybe add some bell-melodies or something, effects, etc. Smile

Maybe this is just me, but I kinda feel like the bass needs a bit more room in the mix. Smile

Overall: Massive business! Keep it up!

Bass work is tight but i think needs more variation, these type of tunes are crazy with bass chop ups, glitchy things, multiple resamples, insane reese work ect ect.

Needs (as already mentioned) rides in there to work it up.
Drums are tight, mix is clean, master is good too.

Good tune mate

Cheers bro! Much appreciated! Will get working on those rides then! And maybe a reese-sweep here and there? Big Grin

Needs more variation indeed... Make some long bass notes to be played at the end of a bar with some drum variation (like you did just before the drop). Then add some rides or something after 8 bars to get more action into it. Now it sounds like Swedish techno from the nineties (repetitive like hell). You could also use some garbage electro drumbits to add variation to the drums instead.
This tune needs a hook as well, add some weird synth stab that fits with the atmosphere so the tune gets some identity.
The stereo on the pads and atmospheres is a bit extreme.

Cant really find any weird sounds that go well with my bass and atmos - I will lower the vol of the atmos as well.

Rides, aaah! Forgot about those xD

Should I remove some bass hits to make room for weird sounds, or wont that matter?

Cheers!

@alternate_force: Thanks bro! Much appreciated! Yeah, some people like repetitiveness - respect. Smile

Not much to say now, ive listened it on headphones, it sound very dynamic and sparkly, havent much bad to say bout it. Maybe sub can be little more present, but thats more taste here, and of course heads arent that good for measuring the "subbiness" of a track.

I like it alot

Thanks again bro! Motivates me to make more neuro! Smile

Reaally nice track Sir! IMO the drums should be a wee bit more punchy (kick and snare), but after the drop!

The reversed crash may have been overused abit IMO Smile

Overall - amazing quality tune here!

My latest.. thing.

First real attempt at resampling my bass. Not so much low-end on this one. A bit repetitive, yeah? If you think so, please give me suggestions on how to add more variation.

There are many opinions I see. I don't know if you heard of Xilent, hes pretty big right now. He told me the snare was very well mastered, and I should keep it as a preset. Tongue

Thanks for your feedback, much apreciated! Smile
